Long-term reduction of unwanted hair.
Laser energy targets the hair follicle while sparing the surrounding skin. It is done over a series of sessions, with settings chosen for your skin type and hair colour.
Laser hair removal uses light energy that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and turned into heat, which damages the follicle and slows future growth. The surrounding skin is protected, and the device settings are chosen according to your skin type and hair colour.
Hair grows in cycles, and only hairs in the active growth phase respond well, so treatment is done as a series of sessions several weeks apart. Most people see a significant, long-term reduction in hair, with occasional maintenance sessions later. It works best on dark hair; very light or grey hair responds poorly.
Before treatment, shave the area but avoid waxing, threading or plucking, and stay out of the sun. Afterwards, mild redness is normal for a few hours. Hormonal conditions such as PCOS can cause excess hair growth, so these are discussed at the consultation.
